On Thursday, Oct. 27, David Ceccarelli visited the Elementary school ‘Cesare Guasti’ of Prato, Italy. He shared his short story book, L’IRRESISTIBILE RICHIAMO DELL’ACCIUGA,  and stories from his many trekking adventures. The students sang and drew pictures of the infamous three rats from his book as a great surprise

David Ceccarelli will be presenting his book: ‘The Irresistible Call of the Anchovy’ on the 21st of October in the secondary schools of the Comprehensive ”G. Borsi” Castagneto Carducci and Donoratico (Livorno) Italy.

Today 14th of May at 18:00 just outiside of the Belforte’s library in Livorno, Italy, author Prato David Ceccarelli will present ‘The  Irresistible Call of the Anchovy’. A young adult book  divided into seven stories all connected with each other. The last of the seven is a work of fantasy writer Janine Kimmel author of “The Magic Gown. ” “The  Irresistible Anchovy” was recently awarded with an honorable mention in a national contest of fiction and poetry titled: “Prato: a tissue of culture 2011. The book is the latest imprint of Spring Tree Press along with Belforte Publishing of Livorno. Spring Tree Press is a small American publisher with whom David has worked for for the last few years.

L’IRRESISTIBILE RICHIAMO DELL’ACCIUGA has been chosen for a ‘honorable mention’
International contest: Prato: un tessuto di cultura / international prize for poetry and fiction.

In honor of Burma’s Aung San Suu Kyi for her courage, elegance and unyielding determination to stand by her principles of human dignity; and to support the education and creativity of Burmese Refugee Children living at the Thai Freedom House in Chiang Mai, Thailand, we are donating copies of J.L. Kimmel’s ‘The Magic Gown‘ and  The Magic Doorway booklet. We wanted to support the children’s education and creativity and appreciate the opportunity to gift copies of the Magic Gown to the Thai Freedom House, which is a community language and arts learning center for refugees from Burma and Indigenous Peoples.

The executive director of Thai Freedom House, Lisa M. Nesser, upon hearing about the gift of books responded, ‘We would be extremely grateful and privileged to accept a donation of your book for our students.  Most of our students have no printed material in their homes to practice their English, no books whatsoever and it would be amazing if they had their own copy of your book.  In honor of Aung San Suu Kyi at that!’

This gift was made possible through a grant from the Angeles Arrien Foundation for Cross Cultural Education & Research.

“I’m delighted to say that the most extraordinary things happen – even when times are extraordinarily difficult. …I see everything as an initiation – it is transformational. …I’ve learned a lot about allowing and patience and tenacity. …There will be people that won’t get your work, but you keep moving forward. Spring Tree Press is delighted to share a letter to J.L. Kimmel about ‘The Magic Gown’ from a wonderful, creative, 10 year old girl. In her mother’s words, she had never seen her daughter so excited while reading a book and that her daughter is a  ’voracious reader’.
